Imagine a world where 72,000,000 children are denied access to school, all of whom who have the potential of becoming excellent leaders, high achieving athletes or doctors that could eventually cure cancer. This world, is the world that you live in now.

Fortunately, you are able to do something about this, by joining 1Goal you can help make a difference to whether our generation will be the first generation to offer education to everyone. 1Goal believes that with education, you can beat poverty; by educating those less fortunate about basic skills such as reading and writing, numeracy, speaking, in order these kids can help themselves to end poverty.

“In 2010 the FIFA World Cup in South Africa is a landmark moment: it’s the first ever World Cup to be held on the African continent. As the world’s eyes turn to Africa this June, we will be asking all world leaders to achieve our 1GOAL: Education for All.”

[Ubuntu] Google Chrome: Finally Out of Beta Stages

Recently, Google have updated their own browser,Google Chrome 5.0 for Linux/Mac users, to a state where it is fully stable. Google first lauched their public stable release for Windows home users back in December of ’08, where it proved to be quite successful. As of April 2010, Google Chrome was the third most widely used web browser, with 6.73% of wordwide usage share of web browsers.

Before Google even thought about releasing Chrome for users outside of the PC dimension, Linux and Mac OS X users had to substitute their desire for Google Chrome, with an open source project, developed by Google themeselves, called Chromium. Chromium is still up for download, for any of you interested. It was originally made for 3rd party developers “to study the underlying source code and help port the browser to Mac OS X and Linux. A Google spokesperson also expressed hope that other browsers would adopt V8 to improve web application performance.”

Now, back to Google Chrome – it is a great web browser, and a fast one at that, with many extensions, themes(!), and a very intuitive user interface. With the URL bar in full frontal view, with dual functions: Google Search and internet browser, it makes surfing the web that much easier. Speed wise, Chrome is at the the top of its league, along with its V8 JavaScript engine, which increases the performance by compiling JavaScript to native machine code, before even executing it, rather than interpreting it. Basically makes Chrome a whole load faster, and makes your life a whole load more productive. Maybe this video will give you just an idea of how fast this really is..

And once you’ve finished installing by now; here are some recommended extensions that you should definitely try out

- Google Translate (for all those who need foreign pages translated a.s.a.p)

- Mini Google Maps (for all those too lazy to open up maps.google.com on a new tab)

- Googl URL Shortener (for all those twitter addicts, who love shortening URLs)

- New Tab Redirect! (for those who really wanted chrome to open a custom page up upon opening a new tab)

How to Watch Megavideo for More Than 72 Minutes!

Okay, so I guess a bunch of you out there watch videos hosted on megavideo.com right?

here is a little guide that will let you watch videos without that stupid 72 minute limit

There are 3 methods I know of doing this:

1. Change Your IP Address:

Change your IP address. Do this however you want, (turning modem on/off, doing it through terminal, change to a static IP address .. etc.) Firefox also gives you the option of clearing your private data, somewhere on the tools option..? Getting a static IP Address through terminal for Ubuntu Desktop please click here.

2. Work Offline

This is a pretty easy way of bypassing the 72 minute limit set down by megavideo. What you basicly do is open up your video and pause it and wait for the whole video to load up, this can take a few minutes I know, but it’ll be worth the wait. Then go ahead and set your browser to work offline. The option should be somewhere on the menus. For Google Chrome users, finding this option is tricky, follow this guide to get you sorted. After that, you can then watch without having the fear of not reaching the end of your video!

3. Plugins for Firefox

So far, I know of one plugin for Firefox that will let you watch unlimited videos on Megavideo. Its called Illimmitux. Apparently it also possible to have parallel downloads off Megaupload without speed limits or a need for a premium account. Here is the link for more information about Illimmitux and a tutorial video.

please comment if you know of more methods of watching unlimited Megavideo videos

Now go enjoy Megavideo without its limits!

The World Is Just Awesome :-)

Where the Hell is Matt?!

Matt Harding, came up with the idea of pulling his awful dance in many different locations around the globe. He got sponsored, and managed to pull his adventure off, going to over 40 countries and including more than 1000s people in his one single video. He published the video in June 2008, and to this day, it has received over 26.6 million views. To try get this figure into perspective for you, there are currently only 16.4 million people living in the Netherlands.

The bengali song, Praan by Gary Schyman was sung by at the time by 17-year-old Palbasha Siddique. It was one of the top 10 music downloads on Amazon after it’s first week of release.

Enjoy!
